Christ's Storehouse of Blessings are Recession Proof
Turn on the news and what do you hear? “Recession” Unquestionably, the economy is facing tremulous times. Unemployment rates are soaring, businesses are shutting down and people are becoming weary. Many are feeling as though they have nowhere to turn, and some have searched for comfort in alcohol and drugs while others hold on to what they feel to be “the last strand of hope.” Even Christians have become discouraged and wonder when things will change….when will it get better….
So, what is there to do next? Where do people turn when there are bills to be paid, a family to feed, debts piling up? What do you do? Who will listen and who can change it? Undoubtedly....Christ.
While I am not fond of the prosperity message that has swept throughout America, and mislead people to believe that because they are Christians they are meant to be millionaires, I do know is that He is concerned with our needs. Having a mansion on a hilltop is not a necessity. Therefore, the "get Christ and get rich quick" mentality is nonsense to me. However, He is moved with compassion by our needs.
I have witnessed Christ come through in my own life at moments when I needed Him. He has brought financial blessings from the least expected places. He's opened doors to jobs that I would have had to pry open on my own. He is faithful! And because of that, I can continue to share the precious message that we can "trust God" even when we are at our wits end, and when do, we can be certain that He will be faithful. You see, our situations and circumstances change but His recognition and provision of our needs does not.
I would not tell you anything that I would not first tell myself. If you have a $1.00 bill left in your wallet...thank him for it, and profess that you believe that He will provide and that you are not defeated, regardless of the headlines of “recession.” Take your focus off of the current situation. When you send out a resume say, "Lord you be the deliverer of this and with the recipient as they read it." Don't limit God.
Here's the thing. I know very well that it's hard to put everything we have in His hands, especially when what we have does not seem like much at the moment, but I also know that He owns cattle on thousands of hills, as his Word says, and beyond that He owns the world and everything in it. These are the precious promises of His word and the things we have to confess.
While the world is searching for careers that are recession proof, I've got news for you, it is Christ and only Christ's provisions that are recession proof. There is nothing that you need that he won't provide for you, and nothing that is too difficult for him to change.
My prayer is that you will be encouraged in your faith and will trust that as you draw near to Him, you can be confidant that He knows your every need and can meet your need. Does that mean that we ought to sit back and say, "I'll do nothing and someone will just come and knock at the door about a job opening?" No, of course not. But we can seek Him and pray that he leads us in the way that we should go, and as we submit our plans to Him, trust that he moving, even when we don't see it.
Be encouraged my brother and sister because God's storehouse of blessings are so plentiful that we wouldn’t have room to contain it all. He has more than we will ever need, and He is faithful to fulfill these needs when we present them to Him.
